Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the Hon’ble President of India, presented the prestigious President’s Colour to INS Valsura on March 25, 2022. The legacy of INS Valsura dates back to 1942, when the operational necessity mandated creation of an advanced Torpedo Training Facility to enhance the firepower of the Royal Indian Navy during World War-II. Post India becoming a Republic, the unit was renamed as INS Valsura. Thereon, INS Valsura has transformed itself into an epitome of professional technical training and has exponentially grown to keep pace with the Indian Navy’s modernisation plans. On this landmark event, the President of India congratulated the officers and sailors of INS Valsura and commended them for their professionalism and dedication to safeguard our maritime borders.

CANTONMENT HOSPITALS TO START AYURVEDA CLINICS

With a view to provide benefits of Indian traditional Ayurveda System of medicine to a wider clientele, MoD has decided to operationalise Ayurveda Centres at 37 Cantonment Hospitals across the country from May 1, 2022. The move will make available well-established and time-tested therapies of Ayurveda to the residents of Cantonments including Armed Forces personnel, their families and civilians availing health services from these hospitals.

INDIAN OCEAN NAVAL SYMPOSIUM MARITIME EXERCISE 2022 (IMEX 22) Conducted in Goa

The maiden edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Maritime Exercise 2022 (IMEX-22) was conducted at Goa and in Arabian Sea from March 26 to 30, 2022. The aim of the exercise was to enhance interoperability in HADR operations among member navies. The exercise witnessed participation of 15 out of the 25-member nations of IONS. The participation included warships, Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters from the Navies of Bangladesh, France, India and Iran. 22 Observers from 15 IONS member navies, namely Australia, Bangladesh, France, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE and UK also participated in the exercise.
