Imphal: The Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) has extended unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the formation of a new State government.

The newly formed KPA that got ECI recognition status in January 2022, just a few days before the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, secured a 100 per cent strike rate, winning all its candidates from Saikul and Singhat assembly constituencies.

President of KPA, Tongmang Haokip, along with two newly elected MLAs – Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (Saikul) and Chinlunthang (Singhat) submitted their letter of support to the Governor of Manipur La. Ganesan at Raj Bhavan In Imphal on 18 March 2022.

Earlier, Janata Dal (United), with its six MLAs, Naga People's Front with five legislators and Independent MLA-Sapam Nishikanta Singh, also extended unconditional support to BJP in the formation of a new Government in Manipur.

BJP secured a thumping majority by winning 32 seats in the 60 members Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
