New Delhi: 'The Kashmir Files' is a Hindi film written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal.
The film portrays the story of the exodus of 'Kashmiri Hindus' in the early 1990s due to the enhanced Kashmir insurgency by Pakistani-sponsored terrorists.
The film was set to release on January 26, 2022, coinciding with Republic Day, but was postponed over a piece of litigation and also due to the Omicron variant spread.
The film is now slated for release on March 11, Friday as the Bombay High Court has dismissed the PIL filed by Intezar Hussain seeking to stay on its release.
The plea to stay or defer the release was denied by a bench consisting of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice M S Karnik, who asked the petitioner to seek redress from the central government.
"Why should we lift the limitation and entertain this petition?" questioned Chief Justice Datta. He asked the petitioner whether he had submitted an RTI request to find out if the CBFC had granted a certificate.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri said in an interview, "…..every frame, every word in my film is true and onlytruth. Nothing but the truth. They can create as many hurdles as they want but I can't be silenced."
