Indian plane IC-814 was hijacked on December 24, 1999, shortly after taking off from Nepal. Terrorists had forced its landing in Taliban occupied Kandahar in Afghanistan.
One of the five terrorists who had hijacked Indian plane IC-814 in December 1999, Zahoor Mistry, was killed in Pakistan’s Karachi on March 1. Mistry was living with a new identity of Zahid Akhund and was running a furniture company Crescent Furniture in Akhtar colony in Karachi.
News9 exclusively reported the development. It reported that top terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), including operational chief Rauf Asgar, attended the funeral prayer meeting for Mistry. Asgar is also the brother of JeM chief Masood Azhar.
The video footage of the assassination shows two assassins moving around in the area on a motorbike with their faces covered with helmets and masks.
Five JeM terrorists had hijacked Indian plane IC-814 shortly after its takeoff from Nepal. After trying at Amritsar, Lahore and Dubai airports, terrorists finally force landed it in Kandahar, which was under Taliban control then.
The hostage crisis ended on December 31, 1999, after the Union government agreed to free three terrorists: Masood Azhar, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, and Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. One Indian lost his life in the hostage crisis.
