Nagori is an expert in brainwashing and once convinced jail inmates to convert. He used to tell them there is discrimination in Hinduism, but all are equal in the eyes of Allah.

Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) terrorist Safdar Nagori said he has no regrets about killing people in Ahmedabad in 2008. He also said he is guided by the Quran and believes only in its judgment. Nagori, who is facing over 100 criminal charges, was arrested in 2008 and is currently lodged in Bhopal Central Jail.

“The Constitution does not count for me. For me, the decisions of the Koran are supreme,” Bhopal Central Jail Superintendent Dinesh Nargawe quoted Nagori.

A special court in Ahmedabad sentenced 38 terrorists to death and 11 terrorists to life imprisonment in the 2008 Ahmedabad blast case on Friday (February 18). 56 people were killed, and over 200 were injured in the 2008 serial blasts. On July 26, 2008, there were 21 blasts in 70 minutes in Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

Nagori was one of the masterminds of the serial blasts. An expert in brainwashing, Nagori had once convinced jail inmates to convert. He used to tell them there is discrimination in Hinduism, but all are equal in the eyes of Allah. The jail authorities cracked down when they got to know of the matter.

In over 7000 pages of judgment, a special court judge termed the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case rarest of the rare.

Referring to the conviction in this particular case, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was then Gujarat chief minister in 2008, said in a public rally in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (February 20) that the day serial blasts took place in Ahmedabad in 2008, he had made a promise to himself that he would ensure those responsible for the blasts are punished. The special court also imposed a fine of INR 2.85 lakh on 48 convicts and INR 2.88 lakh on one convict.

SIMI, founded as the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in 1977 in Aligarh, was banned in 2001. It aimed for the liberation of India through conversion to an Islamic land. Many experts believe SIMI, which was disbanded, has rebranded itself as Popular Front of India (PFI).

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Vice-President and Darul Uloom Deoband Principal Maulana Sayyid Arshad Madani, commonly known as Arshad Madani, had announced Friday (February 18) that he would challenge the conviction of 49 terrorists in the case.
