A renowned historian, Prof Tanwar was appointed the chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) on January 5. Prof Tanwar said, “It is a great honour and it was a total surprise for me. My work has been recognised.”

Prof Tanwar’s latest study, The Story of India’s Partition’ has been published by the Publication Division of the Union government. His monograph, Introduction to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, is highly acclaimed.

He has also co-edited a five-volume study of the speeches and writings of Punjab’s legendary peasant leader Shri Chhotu Ram.

Not just an academician, Prof Tanwar is a well-known sportsperson, having captained the University and the Haryana State Lawn Tennis teams.
