This is what Fascism looks like: Denied entry to airport, Tirupati YSRCP MLA’s son cuts water supply to airport

The YSRCP is the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh and Tirupati YSRCP MLA’s son is also the deputy mayor of the city.

The Tirupati Deputy Mayor Abhinaya Reddy had gone to the Tirupati airport to welcome Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Minister Botsa Satyanarayana.

The airport staff denied him entry, citing rules and protocols. But, Abhinaya insisted. The airport manager Sunil denied him the entry, citing rule books.

A miffed Abhinaya went back and did what only fascists can do. He cut the water supply to airport and its residential staff colony.

Abhinaya’s father B Karunakar Reddy is Tirupati MLA and a senior YSRCP leader. Abhinaya was elected the deputy mayor of the Tirupati Municipal Corporation in July last year.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders protested the fascist attitude of the YSRCP leader and raised a complaint.

The BJP leader and MP (Rajya Sabha) GVL Narasimha Rao said, “In a shocking incident, YSRCP leaders have got water supply stopped to Tirupati international Airport, staff quarters & roads dug up. Highly condemnable. I've written to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Ji seeking a high-level probe into the incident.”

The Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia responded by saying “We will examine the issue at our end & take necessary action. Passengers & staff at the airport will not face any further inconvenience.”

Andhra Pradesh Minister Botsa Satyanarayana was on a visit to Tirupati to attend the closing ceremony of a national-level kabaddi competition. He was accompanied by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy.

This is not the first-time leaders of the ruling YSRCP have misbehaved with the staff at the Tirupati International Airport. In November 2015, YSRCP MP (Lok Sabha) Midhun Reddy had slapped a station manager of Air India. Reddy and his associates were at the airport to board a flight and were denied entry passes as they were late.

The YSRCP, a party founded and led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, has 153 MLAs in the assembly strength of 175. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, YSRCP swept Andhra Pradesh winning all 18 seats.
