Three MLAs, Modhusudhan Saha, Parimal Saha and Gautam Dutta, were killed in Majlishpur during Manik Sarkar tenure. Sadar SDM Sukham Debverma was killed in daylight inside his office.
Agartala: Tripura Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has lashed out at former Chief Minister and Opposition CPI-M Leader Manik Sarkar. Senior minister Sarkar had called the trouble-prone Majlishpur constituency of Tripura, a den of mafias and anti-social elements created by the former CPI (M) government.
Earlier, Manik Sarkar alleged Chowdhury was making his constituency a hub of anti-social elements. Minister Chowdhury said the allegations levelled by former chief minister Sarkar are true, but it was created during his tenure only. Attacking Manik Sarkar, Chowdhury said that Majlishpur was a fort of terror and killings during the CPM government. During the 20 year tenure of the Sarkar government, in 2003, just before the election, 11 people were killed to win the election. Victims of these families didn't get any justice for these political murders by CPI(M) government. During Manik Sarkar's tenure, three MLAs, Modhusudhan Saha, Parimal Saha, and Gautam Dutta, were killed in Majlishpur. Sadar SDM Sukham Debverma was killed in daylight in his office.
Chowdhury said that Manik Sarkar supported all these killings to remain in the chair of the chief minister of Tripura. Besides these killings, Chowdhury alleged that Manik Sarkar gave permission to uncountable amounts of corruption to stay in the chief minister's chair. The chit fund scams happened under the patronage of the Manik Sarkar government. The poor people's money was looted by CPI(M) as a party fund and by the ministers of the Sarkar government, Chowdhury added.
