West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has triggered massive controversy after she urged local newspapers to publish “positive” news if they want to earn government ads.

While talking to reporters, she further said that she doesn’t want negative news and told the publishers to submit their publication to the office of the District Magistrate.

I will tell the DM to give you government advertisements once they ascertain whether you are doing positive or negative news, the TMC supremo said.

This response from the CM came after a local journalist told her that their rural newspaper doesn’t get advertising
