Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, also known as the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, is located in Pakistan's Narowal district across the river Ravi. It is one of the most significant historical and spiritual places for Sikhs.

New Delhi: 2443 Indian Sikh Piligrims and religious pilgrims were accorded a "warm welcome" by Pakistan on Wagah's arrival.

According to the Pakistan High Commission sources in Delhi, the Piligrims reached the Wagah border on Wednesday, Nov 17. "The Pakistan High Commission wishes a rewarding Yatra to the Sikh devotees visiting Pakistan from 17 to 26 November 2021," the source said.

It may be mentioned here that given the significance of Gurupurab and sentiments associated with the solemn occasion, the Government of India has decided that a Jatha of pilgrims will visit Pakistan between November 17 and 26, 2021, via the Attar-Wagah Integrated Check Post (ICP)…

"This visit is covered under the 1974 Bilateral Protocol between India and Pakistan on 'Visits to Religious Shrines'," MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi told reporters last week.

The pilgrims are likely to visit Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib, Gurudwara Shri Panja Sahib, Gurudwara Shri Dehra Sahib, Gurudwara Shri Nankana Sahib, Gurudwara Shri Kartarpur Sahib and Gurudwara Shri Sachha Sauda.

"As you know, movement through the Kartarpur corridor was suspended in March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Land travel between India and Pakistan, is since being conducted on a limited scale through the Attari-Wagah Integrated Check Post in coordination with the Pakistani side," Mr Bagchi has said.

The Gurupurab is an important festival for the Sikhs. The Guru Nanak Jayanti or Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurupurab is the festival where Sikhs celebrate the birth of the first guru — Guru Nanak.

The Kartarpur corridor was opened on Nov 9, 2019.

A delegation of AAP from Punjab led by a Member of Parliament and president of the Aam Aadmi Party, Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, is also likely to visit Kartarpur, it has been announced.
