Assam police arrested 26 cow smugglers, seized 68 cows in Nagaon; Contract killer gang nabbed with a pistol

Cow smuggler racket masterminds Azmat Ali, Safikul Ali, Muksedul Rahman, Aminul Hasan and Gulzar Hussain in police custody. 

 

Guwahati: In a series of operations, Assam police arrested 26 Cow smugglers and seized 68 cows in Nagaon. On a confirmed tipoff, Nagaon police conducted Naka checks in various places of the district on Saturday (November 13) night. The cow smuggler gang attempted to illegally pass off cattle from upper Assam across borders to Bangladesh through misuse of local market Challans. Nagaon police smartly foiled the fake document racket, using fake certificates to transport cows. Police seized nine vehicles and recovered 35 Cattles. The police team has arrested 21 cow smugglers. Masterminds of the cow smuggling rackets Jahir Abbas, Afnoor Ali still absconding.

On Thursday night, Nagaon police conducted another series of operations in the district against cow smuggling. Nagaon police seized a consignment of 25 cattle worth ₹20 Lakh on its way to slaughterhouses across borders. Nagaon police seize the cattle at a Naka check at the Raha area of the district. The police team headed by additional SP Dhruba Bora arrested five smugglers Azmat Ali, Safikul Ali, Muksedul Rahman, Aminul Hasan and Gulzar Hussain.

Nagaon SP Anand Mishra told "Organiser" that after the strict vigil of police, these smugglers were using fake documents to transport cattle. But the police are foiling these attempts regularly. 

In another operation by Nagaon police, 5 Dacoits were arrested in the Herapatty area. The police team seized one handmade pistol with six cartridges. The gang assembled for Dacoity during the night. Two of them are veterans, including a contract killer. On a confirmed tipoff, a police team headed by IC Haibargaon, SI Taranga Patowary, nabbed the gang in association with a CRPF team.

Arrested dacoits are Ainuddin, of Herapatty, Haibergaon, Nagaon Samiruddin, of Pashchim Sathiya, Juria, Abdul Jalil, of Katamari Grant, Haibargaon, Mujibur Rahman, of Herapatty, Haibargaon and Abdul Qadir, of Bhakatgaon, Haibargaon, Nagaon.
