In an event Sunday (November 14) to transfer the first instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) on Sunday to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb for changing the government culture in the state.
“I thank Chief Minister Biplab Deb and his govt for changing the government culture, old ways of working, and old attitude within such a short span of time. The youthful energy with which Biplab Deb is working, that energy can be seen across Tripura today”, Prime Minister Modi said.
He added “Today, Tripura and the entire northeast are becoming witnesses to change. The first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) given today, has given new morale to the dreams of Tripura.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party wrested power from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2018. Mani Sarkar, CPM leader, was the chief minister of Tripura from March 1998 to March 2018. Communist leader Dasarath Deb was the chief minister of Tripura from 1993-1998.
Earlier in the day, the Union Home ministry said the Maharashtra violence was based on fake news about Tripura.
“In Maharashtra, there have been reports of violence and unsavoury statements that are aimed at disturbing peace and harmony, based on fake news regarding Tripura. This is very concerning and it is urged that peace is maintained at all costs," the Ministry of Home Affairs statement read.
After the Friday (November 12) prayers, the Muslims in Maharashtra attacked Hindu houses and shops. The protest was called by Mumbai-based Raza Academy to protest the attacks on Muslims in Tripura.
On Tuesday (October 26), Hindus in Tripura had organised Aakrosh Rally to protest the Islamist attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. One such rally in Panisagar, where more than 50 percent were women in the rally, was attacked by Muslims.
The Islamists started spreading fake news that one mosque in Panisagar was attacked and vandalised by Hindus.
“During yesterday's protest rally in Panisagar, North Tripura, no masjid was burnt and the pictures being shared of burning or damaged masjid or collection of sticks etc are all fake and are not from Tripura. They may be of some countries”, The Tripura Police had said on October 27.
Rahul Gandhi, on October 28, well after the Tripura Police has busted the fake news, posted a comment on social media saying Muslims in Tripura were under attack.
The Tripura Police, in a series of Tweets, busted the fake news about attack on Panisagar mosque.
It said “Certain persons by using fake social media IDs are spreading fake news/rumours on Tripura. It is informed that law & order situation in the State is absolutely normal.”
“Some vested interests are trying to disturb the peaceful communal situation of Tripura. Tripura Police requests every citizen of Tripura to help it in maintaining law and order and peace in Tripura”, the Tripura Police added.
The Islamists in Bangladesh spread fake news on October 13 that Quran has been desecrated in one of the Durga Pooja Pandals. Muslim mobs started attacking the pooja pandals, temples and Hindu houses.
On October 15, when Hindus were celebrating Dussehra, a Muslim mob of more than 200 people attacked the ISKCON temple in Noakhali.
In the anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh, more than 15 Hindus lost their lives and many properties were destroyed.
