In yet another incident of minority appeasement by the CPM-led Kerala government, Kerala government has issued a circular rescheduling the online classes in the schools for facilitating Madrasa education. Madrasa classes are normally up to 8:30 AM. The Deputy Educational director in his circular issued to the district and sub-district educational officers have asked them to schedule the class timing from 9:30 AM to 4 PM.

The circular comes after the Samasta Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF) had requested the government to reschedule online class timings. Even though the school are opened in Kerala, online classes are still going on in a large number of schools.

The government’s concession to the Madrasas comes at a time when the same government is not taking enough steps even to fill the vacancies for the position of Sanskrit teachers in schools.
