PM condemns cowardly attack on security forces; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says perpetrators will be brought to justice soon

Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the cowardly ambush on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. Condemning the attack on the security personnel which killed 7 people, the PM Modi said, "Strongly condemn the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. I pay homage to those soldiers and family members who have been martyred today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of sadness." 

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condemned the terrorist attack on  Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur on Saturday in which five soldiers and two of their family members were killed.

Taking to his Twitter Singh wrote, “The cowardly attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in Churachandpur, Manipur is extremely painful and condemnable. The nation has lost five brave soldiers including CO 46 AR and two family members. My condolences to the bereaved families. The perpetrators will be brought to justice soon.”

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also condemned the attack on Assam Riffle’s convoy. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on a convoy of 46 AR which has reportedly killed a few personnel including the CO and his family at Churachandpur today. The State forces and  Paramilitary are already on their job to track down the militants. The perpetrators will be brought to justice"

The Commanding Officer (CO) of 46 Assam Rifles Colonel Viplav Tripathy, his wife Anuja Tripathi, six year old son Abir Tripathi killed along with four others in an ambush by PLA Manipur terrorists near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur on Saturday morning at around 10 am. The CO and his family were returning from a forward camp on the border when the terrorist triggered an IED and opened fire on the convoy.

Four other soldiers sustained injuries in the attack in Churachandpur district in Manipur, according to the  Indian Army. The incident took place around 10 am on Saturday near S Sehken village under Behiang police station.

Assam chief minister and NEDA convenor Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma described the attack as a cowardly act of the militant and says this type of incident will hamper the peace and development of North East. Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Dev also condemned the cowardly act. Joint operation are on in the area by police and Assam Rifles to nab the terrorists.
