Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav : 2284 Kilometer MotorCycle Rally by  Assam Rifles across North East

Silchar: The 75th anniversary of Independence is being celebrated as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ by the Government of India across the country through various events and functions. Assam Rifles has engulfed itself into the spirit of celebrations and is organising numerous events to include the locals of the North East into the spirit of Independence. Assam Rifles to this effect has already completed a 3000 Km long Cycle Rally from Shillong to New Delhi and is now conducting a 2284 Km long MotorCycle Rally from Silchar to Shillong. The MotorCycle Rally aims to highlight the contribution of Assam Rifles Units since independence in controlling insurgency, guarding of the Indo Myanmar Border and undertaking multiple need based Civic Action programmes all of which have ensured that Assam Rifles as a Force is viewed as truly the Sentinels of the North East.

The seven days MotorCycle Rally was flagged off on 07 Nov by Major General Ranjit Singh, SM, VSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) from Silchar.  The MotorCycle Rally is a joint venture between Assam Rifles and Jawa Motorcycles Group. The Rally plans to touch all the states of the North East en-route and will visit Agartala, Aizawl, Aina-Thinghat, Imphal, Kohima, Dimapur, Itanagar, Guwahati before culminating at Shillong. The Rally, consisting of 25 bikers during their visit to various prominent cities, towns and villages, will be spreading the message of ‘Unity and Integrity’. 

The rally will re – enter Assam after completing its circuit of Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur at Jorhat. The rally will also touch Itanagar and Guwahati before moving to Shillong. As part of the celebrations in Assam, interactions with locals and NCC Cadets is being planned to include them into the spirit of Unity and celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
