The Gujarat Police on Wednesday (November 3) arrested Mohammad Irfan Qureshi and a minor for throwing a lit firecracker on a petrol dispenser in Surat.
The video of the incident, captured on the petrol pump’s CCTV, had gone viral on different social media platforms. The incident had happened on Monday (November 1).
Qureshi was riding pillion, and the minor was riding the scooter. Both approached the petrol pump to get fuel in their scooter. After taking the fuel, the minor start the scooter and Qureshi is seen hurling the lit firecracker on the fuel dispenser.
Mohammad Irfan Qureshi, 18, is a resident of the Mahidharpura area of Surat. As per Indian laws, minors can not be named while reporting any crime.
The alertness of the staff averted any major tragedy. The alert staff immediately threw away the lit firecracker.
The petrol pump’s CCTV captured the whole incident, and the scooter’s number plate helped the police arrest the offenders.
The country is celebrating Diwali on Thursday (November 4) to mark the return of Shri Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.
