BJP and Alliance registers resounding victory in Assam by-election, Congress outrightly rejected by voters, NPP, UDP, MNF won in Meghalaya-Mizoram

BJP and its alliance UPPL won all the five seats in the by polls. National People's Party (NPP) won the Rajabala and Mawryngkneng constituencies in Meghalaya while UDP won the Mawphlang seat. Ruling MNF won the Tuirial constituency by-election.

 

 

Guwahati: Ruling BJP and its alliance partner UPPL won all 5 constituencies in the by-poll In Assam. BJP won three seats while alliance partner UPPL won two seats. All the three BJP candidates who joined the saffron party leaving the Congress-AIUDF won the by-polls. Former four times Congress MLA Rupjyiti Kurmi, who shifted to BJP in Marioni constituency in Jorhat district, won the by-polls with a huge margin.

Another Congressman, Sushanta Borgohain, who joined the BJP in August last, won in Thowra constituency in Sivasagar district of Upper Assam with a huge margin. In lower Assam's Bhabanipur constituency, Phanidhar Talukdar, who recently joined BJP from AIUDF, won by a huge margin. In the Bodoland Territorial area, BJP's alliance partner UPPL continues its winning track in the by-polls. In the Gossaigaon constituency, UPPL candidate Jiron Basumotary won by a huge margin.

In the Tamulpur constituency of BTR UPPL candidate, Jalen Daimari won by a huge margin. Interestingly, opposition Congress and AIUDF were rejected outrightly by the voters. Assam in all five constituencies. In Thowra and Morioni, where Congress won the last election in May this year, they lost to BJP by a huge margin. Muslim minority base party AIUDF, too, has been rejected by the voters in Bhabanipur. AIUDF candidates won the last three elections consecutively in the constituency. But lost the by-polls by a huge margin to BJP. In BTR Congress, former alliance partner BPF was also rejected by the voters. In both Gossaigaon and Tamulpur, BJP's alliance partner UPPL candidates won by a huge margin. 

In Meghalaya, too, Congress is rejected by the voters. BJP's alliance partner, NPP candidate Abdus Saleh, won the Rajabala constituency in Garo Hills, defeating the Congress candidate. In the Mawryngkneng NPP candidate Pyniaid Sing Syiem won by defeating his Congress rival, and in Mawphlang constituency, the regional party UDP candidate and former national footballer Egeneson Lyngdoh won the by-polls 

In Mizoram, MNF candidate K Laldawngliana won the Tuirial by-polls by defeating the Congress candidate.
