The blanket ban on Diwali firecrackers is not good, said Sarakaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale today (October 30) in Dharwad in Karnataka. He was addressing the press on the third and concluding day of RSS’ Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) Baithak.
He said that protecting environment is an everyday activity and blanket ban on firecrackers during Deepawali is not going to help.
Narrating his own experience, he said, “In July I was in New York. On their Independence Day on July 4, they celebrated by bursting a lot of firecrackers. Even government departments organised bursting of firecrackers.”
He highlighted there are many people involved in the firecracker industry for years and overnight blanket ban will create multiple other problems like mass unemployment.
“Anything which helps the cause of environment protection must be welcomed. But a comprehensive view is necessary. It can not be switched on/Switched off overnight”, Hosabale ji said.
Answering a question about anti-conversion law, he said, “Why minorities are opposing the anti-conversion law is an open secret. More than 20 states have brought anti-conversion law. Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh brought anti-conversion law when they were ruled by the Congress chief ministers.”
He added “Our stated position is conversion should stop.” He explicitly stated that some people use fraudulent means for conversion with aim to increase their numbers and it must be checked.
Population explosion puts stress on the country’s natural resources. Expressing his support for a population control law, Sarakaryavah Dattatreya ji said, “Every country should have a population policy and it should be equally applicable to all.”
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) Baithak happens twice a year, one in October/November and the other in March. Last year it was disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The physical sakhas of the RSS were also disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic but the seva karya did not stop.
Shri Hosabale said, “The seva karya of the Sangh continued with swayamsevaks actively helping the people in need in the pandemic time.” The RSS has trained more than 4,00,000 volunteers for the possible third wave of Covid-19.
Many schools were prepared as isolation centres for the Covid-19 patients. Through Seva International, it distributed more than 1.5 lakh PPE Kits. The swayamsevaks also distributed hand sanitizers, face masks and herbal immunity booster medicine (khada).
Currently, there are around 55000 sakhas of the RSS happening in the country. Out of it, 34000 are daily sakhas and the rest are weekly and monthly sakhas.
Earlier, on October 29, ABKM has passed a resolution condemning the anti-Hindu violence by Islamists in Bangladesh.
The resolution noted “The Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal expresses its deep anguish over the recent outburst of violence on Hindus in Bangladesh and also strongly condemns the continuing brutality on the Hindu minority there, which is the part of larger conspiracy by Jihadi groups to further Islamisation of Bangladesh.”
