New Delhi: The second India-UK Multilateral Dialogue was held on Monday, October 18, 2021, in London.
The Indian delegation was led by Mr. Prakash Gupta, Joint Secretary (UN Political), Ministry of External Affairs and the UK side was led by Ms. Harriet Mathews CMB OBE, Deputy Political Director for UN, UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The UK side "congratulated India" on its successful presidency of the UN Security Council in August 2021, an official release said.
Discussions covered issues of mutual interest pertaining to UN reforms, counterterrorism, peacekeeping and climate action.
"Both sides exchanged views on the Commonwealth Strategic Plan and priorities."
The delegations agreed to continue to work closely to deepen their cooperation on multilateral issues.
It may be mentioned that in a major push to bilateral ties between India and the United Kingdom, the two foreign ministers held the inaugural Maritime Dialogue in a virtual format on Monday, October 18.
The virtual deliberations between External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and his British counterpart Liz Truss were held as part of the broad agreement drawn in the India-UK Roadmap 2030 for future relations.
The India-UK Roadmap was adopted at the Virtual Summit between the two Prime Ministers, Narendra Modi and Boris Johnson, in May 2021.
