Angry Muslim mob hurls stones at Maharashtra Police over a Facebook post about Aurangzeb; Four policemen injured

Expressing anger over a Facebook post against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, a mob of over 150 people turned violent and pelted stones at vehicles and hoardings on the roads in Maharashtra's Osmanabad city on Tuesday. Four policemen were injured in the incident.

The mob unleashed violence on the state police and pelted stones at vehicles and hoardings on roads at Vijay Chowk area in Osmanabad city of Maharashtra at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday. According to the state police, four policemen were injured while trying to stop the violent mob. The mob vandalized a hoarding, a police vehicle and an auto-rickshaw in Vijay Chowk area.

A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC in connection with the incident. The rioters have been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to prevent a public servant from performing his duty), public service, and 353 (assault or criminal force to prevent public servant from discharging his duty) and public property. Including the Prevention of Loss Act.
