Amir Chand, Rashtriya Mahamantri of Sanskar Bharti, passed away on Saturday (October 16) in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Pracharak and Rashtriya Mahamantri of Sanskar Bharti, Amir Chand, passed away on Saturday (October 16) evening in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. He was in Tawang for official work.

Because of the height of Tawang and the adverse weather condition, he suddenly developed breathing difficulty. He was rushed to a hospital but couldn't be saved.

Condolence messages started pouring in from all corners.

The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, J P Nadda, expressed his condolence.

J Nandakumar, the national convener of Prajna Pravah, said, "Amir Chanda Ji relentlessly worked for instilling nationalistic values in art and culture. In a rare patriotic initiative, he took a galaxy of artists and musicians to border areas across the country and organised performances as a special tribute to our armed forces."

He added, "With significant contribution to the fraternity of artists, under the banner of Sanskar Bharati, he marked his public life as an organiser par excellence."

When the Covid pandemic hit the country in March last year, the stage performances were cancelled across the country, hitting the artists very hard.

Amir Chand worked tirelessly to ensure the artists get financial support to survive.

It was a virtual event in which the eminent artists of the country's art, literature, music, dance and cinema made their presentation and appealed to society to help the needy artists.

The programme was the first of its kind to felicitate the martyrs' families.
