Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra told "Organiser" that a huge network is working in the cow smuggling trade from the district. Otherwise they wouldn't have dared to smuggle cattles in a container truck through the national highway

Guwahati: "Durga's 10 hands inspire us too, to be in multitasking mode." This is the motivational line Nagaon police posted on their social media pages. Not only did they post this but also they had acted like true watchmen of the society.

While the whole state was busy worshipping "Maa Durga" during the five days puja celebrations, the smugglers were finding new routes for their illegal trades. These crooks thought the police force was busy with festival security, so the passage will be easier for them to smuggle cows and cattles.  Assuming that Nagaon police are busy in Durga Puja Security duties will give them the opportunity to attempt illegal transportation of Cattle from Rupahihat towards Guwahati and ahead to the borders of Bangladesh. A group of migrant Muslim smugglers tried to smuggle lerge numbers of cows in the mid of the festivel through National Highway 37 in Assam.

Alert Naka at Borghat in Nagaon didtrict led by Sub Inspector Dhonmoni Ray caught the consignment. 2 arrested, 33 cattle and one Container Truck Seized. In a follow up raid, the Consignor was arrested too. Police team two cow smugglers  Md. Suleman Ali (25)  and Md. Rabiul Awal (20) of  Bhogamur village of Nagaon district. The team

in a follow-up raid caught the sender of the consignment, Md. Amdadul Haque (29) of Khatowal village of the same district. Nagaon district Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra told "Organiser" that a huge network is working in the cow smuggling trade from the district. Otherwise they wouldn't have dared to smuggle cattles in a container truck through the national highway. Police are investigating to find out the kingpin of the smugglers' racket.

In the previous week Nagaon police under the leadership of SP Anand Mishra arrested 8 cow smugglers from different parts of the district and recovered 26 cows from their custody. Ever since the Assam government has enacted new law preventing cattle transportation without valid authority, the cow smugglers are searching for new opportunities and routes to smuggle cattles, mainly cow. Dozens of smugglers were arrested by Assam police and recovered hundreds of cows. BSF also foiled many attempts of cow smuggling to Bangladesh and even killed more than one smuggler in encounters.
