Rampant illegal transportation of Cows and beef is going on throughout Odisha and State Government is not taking any step to curb the same . Illegal transportation is taking place mostly through NH 16 which connects Chennai to Kolkata.

Two beef containers were seized in two different districts of Odisha on Sunday with the help of Bajrang Dal activists in Jajpur and Khurda District.

According to reports, Jajpur Police seized  a container transporting around   20 tonnes of Beef on NH 16  near Bilipada under the Kuakhia Police limit of Jajpur District. Police also arrested  Javed Mandal (40) and Bapi Mandal (30) of North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal in this connection.

A container with Vehicle no DL 1GC 4302 was standing on NH 16 near Bilipur with some technical problem in it. Local Villagers saw blood flowing from the container and they informed Bajrang Dal and VHP activists. Bajrang Dal activists rushed to the spot and they called Local Police to the spot.

Police detained the driver and cleaner of the vehicle and started questioning them.  First did not admit that they are transporting beef. They told the police that they were transporting fist. But later they admitted to transporting beef. The container was going to Kolkata from Sambalpur and it has no valid document with it. Bajrang Dal and VHP workers gheraoed local police stations and demanded stringent action against these people. After that Police arrested two-person and registered a case in Kuakhia Police Station.

“Everyday large no of cows and tonnes of beef are being transported to West Bengal through NH 16. But Police and administration are not taking any step to stop this. We demand these activities to be stopped. If the administration does not listen to our demand,  we shall be forced to come to the street” said Akshaya Kumar Bal, working President VHP, Jajpur district

Similarly, Khudha Police seized a vehicle with  7quintal beef and arrested 5 persons in this connection.  Beef was being transported to West Bengal. Those arrested have been identified as Md Asiq, Mehmood Khan, Tuku Khan, SK Islam and feeroj Ali Khan.
