The Shivraj Singh Chauhan government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to include Ramayan, Mahabharat and Ramsetu in the state engineering courses.
The state government has also decided to include a course on Ramayan for BA.
“We are so proud that Lord Ram was born in our land. Even Mahatma Gandhi had passed away chanting Ram Ram, so Ram is rampant in our culture. If we include lord Ram’s life lessons as an optional subject, what’s wrong with it”, News18 quoted the state higher education minister Dr Mohan Yadav.
Earlier the state government had announced plans to include life lessons of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and Jan Sangh founder Deendayal Upadhyay in the MBBS course.
Meanwhile, Congress, which is the main opposition party in Madhya Pradesh, opposed the move. The Congress MLA Arif Masood demanded that Quran be also included in the syllabus.
