A complaint has been at the University Grants Commission (UGC) against Bible Open University of India for providing fake degrees and violating section 23 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The complaint has been filed by Legal Rights Protection Forum. Bible Open University of India (BOUI) is a Christian Theological institution situated at ‘Bible Open University of India’(BOUI), H.No. 49-35-26, N.G.O’s Colony, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
“The Bible Open University of India is running using the word ‘University’ and awarding Bachelor, Master and Ph.D Degrees without the recognition/permission from the University Grants Commission. However, Bible Open University of India is carrying on for several years with impunity without any action being taken against it”, the complaint said
The complaint also says that ‘the said BOUI has been misleading gullible youth and their parents into believing that they are fully authorized to function as a University and award Under Graduate/Post Graduate and Ph.D Degrees.’
It also raises serious allegations of sexual exploitation of minor boys and girls.
Legal Rights Protection Forum has requested the UGC to:
1. Take immediate action to ban the Bible Open University of India from using the word ‘University'.
2. Ban issue of any type of Degree by the BOUI.
