Guwahati: Union Minister for Rural development Giriraj Singh said on Saturday that a strong population control act is the need of the hour for the social empire and development of the nation. Meeting with the members of the Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) North East and Assam prant, Singh said if the government doesn't bring a population control act in Assam, it will be difficult for the indigenous Assamese people to secure their land and religion.

He said, "I am involved with every activity of the Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation, because they want to bring a population control act which is required for the social empire and development of the nation. In Assam, people working with JSF believe that if a population control act is not enacted here, it will be difficult for the indeginious Assamese to protect their land and religion.
