The Lucknow police booked Islamist Munawwar Rana under various sections of the SC/ST Act for defaming the community by comparing Maharshi Valmiki with the Taliban in a TV interview.
The leader of Ambedkar Mahasabha, Amarnath Prajapati, has also registered a complaint against Islamist Munawwar Rana and demanded action against him.
In a TV interview, Rana compared Maharshi Valmiki, who wrote the Ramayana, with the Taliban.
Both, Bharati and Prajapati, have noted in their complaints that Rana has hurt the sentiments of the community and defamed the community by comparing Maharshi Valmiki with the Taliban.
In the same interview, Rana defended the actions of the Taliban.
This is not the first time when Rana has given a controversial statement. Islamist Munawwar Rana, who has been masquerading as a shayar (poet), has defended fundamentalists on many occasions and have insulted Hindu gods and goddesses too.
