All Indians in Kabul, Feared Kidnapped by Taliban, Are Safe and Being Evacuated

Several media outlets reported the Taliban had kidnapped some people, including Indians, at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

 

The Union government has confirmed that all Indians, numbering 150, are safe in Afghanistan and are being evacuated.

 

Earlier in the day (August 21), multiple news outlets reported the Taliban had captured some people, including Indians, at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

 

“All Indians in Kabul are safe and in touch with Indian diplomats. Evacuation process is underway. – Indian Government sources”, posted Network18 Group Contributing Editor Aditya Raj Kaul.

 

He added, “Spoke to Coordinator of Indian Nationals in Kabul. He confirmed all 150 Indians are safe but yet not inside airport or handed over to US/NATO forces for evac. Confirmed harassment by some armed men who were speaking Pakistani Urdu. Have withheld his name and location.”
