Guwahati: Mission Fit India. She aims to make people aware of physical fitness and the benefits of walking. Her name is Anjali Das. A 42-year-old widow from the small village of Mirza, about 40 kilometres from Guwahati. She is a half marathon enthusiast.

Anjali participated in various half marathons organised in big cities of India. She won silver medals twice in the Kolkata half marathon in 2018 and 2019, running 21 kilometres; she also participated in the Mumbai half marathon. But because of the pandemic, she couldn't do much in the last two years. The mother of a 20-year-old boy worked hard at home and prepared herself for a big one during this period.

Now she wants to make people aware of being fit and healthy by walking. Anjali Das said her son inspired her to go for it. With her little savings and some contribution from the villagers, she started walking from Mirza, Assam, to Ladakh from 13 August.

In the last 4days, he has walked almost 140 kilometres and reached Kokrajhar, the last district of Assam to the West Bengal border. By Wednesday, Anjali Das will cross the Assam Border. She aims to walk at least 40 kilometres per day. She aims to cover the distance of 2800 kilometres from Assam to Ladakh in 90 days.

The braveheart lady also aims to spread tourism in Assam and Northeast in her journey. Anjali said, "I want to make people aware of the benefits of walking. This will be a lifetime experience for me to know my India. I want to spread peace and brotherhood amongst the people of my country." She said if I get a little help from somebody, I will be happy to walk the entire country. Hopefully, Anjali will be able to achieve her aim.
