Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviews the Covid situation in North East, approves 1300 crores of additional grant to NE states

Guwahati: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya review the Covid 19 situations in Northeastern states. Madaviya held a meeting with representatives of 8 Northeastern states including Sikkim in Guwahati. The union health minister takes stock of the latest covid situation in North East and also reviewed the vaccination drives in the region. On average 8 states of North East detected 2300 new covid cases in a day during the last week. Especially Assam, Manipur and Mizoram recorded more than 500 new cases daily. The union health minister was apprised by the measures taken by the respective states to control the covid 19 pandemics.

 

The union health minister said in the meeting that all possible help will be provided by the central government to the Northeastern states. He said adequate numbers of covid 19 vaccines are being given to the states and it will continue. The central government will soon allot an additional 1300 crores of rupees for covid management to the Northeastern states. He stated the situations in the Northeastern states are very much in control.

 

The meeting held at Assam Administrative Staff College was attended by health minister of Assam Keshab Mahanta, Sikkim's health minister Dr. Mani Kumar Sarma, Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom,Tripura minister Ratan Lal Nath, health adviser to Manipur chief minister Dr. Ranjan Sapame and health secretaries of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. The Chief Secretary of Assam and high-level health officials were also present in the crucial meeting.

 

Earlier Mandaviya met Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and discussed various issues. Taking to twitter Dr. Sarma said,"Today I had the pleasure of meeting Sri @mansukhmandviya on his 1st visit to Assam after assuming office of Union Health Minister. Apprised him on Assam's proactive management of #Covid19; updates on vaccination. Thanking him for the support, I also sought his guidance on the way ahead."
