Twitter India has locked the official account of the Congress party for posting pictures of the parents of the Delhi gang-rape victim.

After Rahul Gandhi’s, the microblogging platform Twitter has locked the account of the Congress party and leaders Randeep Surjewala, Ajay Maken and Manickam Tagore for posting pictures of the parents of the Delhi gang-rape victim.

Last week, Twitter had temporarily blocked the account of Rahul Gandhi when he posted the photos of the parents of a gang-rape victim in Delhi.

Under Indian laws, publishing pictures of a rape victim or her parents is prohibited.

On Wednesday (August 11), Twitter informed the Delhi High Court that it had deleted the controversial tweet of Rahul Gandhi in which he posted the photos of the parents of a gang-rape victim and temporarily blocked his account for violating rules.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of Rahul Gandhi’s tweet and raised a complaint to Twitter to take action against it.

An 8-year-old girl was gang-raped on Sunday (August 1) in Delhi’s Nangal. The victim’s body was cremated on Wednesday (August 11) after the post-mortem.
