Guwahati: The coalition drama of opposition parties is on high again in Assam for the byelections in five constituencies. The blame game between the coalition partner of the Congress-led grand alliance (Mahajoot) AIUDF and Akhil Gogoi's newly floated party "Raijor Dal '' made the political air hot in the state. AIUDF leader and MLA Haji Aminul Islam on Tuesday alleged that Akhil Gogoi asked Rupees 10 crores from his party to join the Congress-led grand alliance "Mahajoot" before the Assam assembly election.

Akhil Gogoi was in jail in an NIA case at that time and the AIUDF leader Islam said he had a series of discussions with Gogoi in jail and hospital. Islam further said in media in the sideline of the ongoing session of the assembly that Akhil wanted the money to make his newly floated political party's organisational base stronger. However the deal wasn't locked and that is why Akhil is now behind AIUDF and terming it as a communal party, He said.

It should be mentioned that the Raijor Dal led by left-wing political leader Akhil Gogoi didn't participate in the grand alliance and fought the assembly election alone. Only Akhil Gogoi won the election from the Sivasagar constituency. After the humiliating defeat, Akhil Gogoi now wants to team up with the Congress for upcoming by-polls. But he wants Congress to break the pre-poll alliance with AIUDF to lure the Hindu voters, which Congress is keeping mum till now.

Pradesh Congress president Bhupen Bora without naming Akhil Gogoi said, when there was a need for unity before the election, all the Generals (Senapati) parted. Now we will decide with whom to stay together and with whom to keep our distance. The AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam challenged Akhil Gogoi to come up in a public forum to debate on his allegations. However, Akhil Gogoi tried to stay away from any direct answer to the allegation when asked by the media.
