"It has been decided that the Tricolour would be hoisted at every party office on the occasion of 75th Independence day," said CPI (M) Central Committee member Sujan Chakraborty.
Neglecting every symbol of nationalism has been one of the core values of the CPM.
When in power in West Bengal, the party frequently organised strikes over happenings in Cuba and Palestine.
Even during the 1962 Indo-China war, it campaigned for the Communist Party of China.
But, much water has flown under the bridge since then. In West Bengal, the state where the party ruled for 36 years, it has zero seats in the assembly.
