NDTV published a news about Covid-19 with a representational image of a Muslim man. Islamists started threatening NDTV and its employees. NDTV deleted the news post.

On Friday (August 6), NDTV published news about the fresh Covid-19 cases in India. It posted on Twitter “44,643 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In India, Nearly 4% Higher Than Yesterday.”

The post has a representational image of a Muslim man getting tested for Covid-19.

All hell broke loose after that. Rabid Islamists started threatening NDTV and its employees.

Sharjeel Usmani, a rabid Islamist, posted “Who in NDTV decided to use this picture with the report? Employees may reveal the name if they wish to. DM is always open.”

On Saturday evening, Sonia Singh, Editorial Director NDTV, took a grand position, posting “I can only see an Indian taking a corona test in this picture. Stop trying to intimidate our team with your agenda !”

But, NDTV deleted the tweet.

But, Usmani did not stop. He again posted, quoting Sonia Singh’s tweet “Don't really have to intimidate Islamophobes. They're already terrified by our mere existence.”
