The Central team, sent to the state for evaluating the ongoing COVID crisis, has criticized the Kerala model of pandemic containment in its report saying that the containment strategy is flawed. The report comes as a massive setback to the Kerala government, claiming to be no 1 in the healthcare sector.
‘The quarantine rules are not being followed,’ the report said.
It added that in Kerala, families comprising over five members, the primary contact is not taking proper home isolation, thereby infecting other family members.
The report also said that Kerala is going through pandemic fatigue.
Pandemic fatigue is a global phenomenon, and in many countries, people feel demotivated about following recommended behaviours to protect themselves and others from the virus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), pandemic fatigue evolves gradually over time and is affected by the cultural, social, structural, and legislative environment.
The Central team also observed that people were reluctant even to wear face masks.
