The arrested journalists were working towards creating a favourable environment for the Taliban, and their aim was to give the Taliban an image makeover by ignoring their violent acts.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Afghanistan arrested four Afghan journalists working for the Chinese news agency Xinhua. The arrested journalists were collaborating with the Taliban and the ISI.

The four journalists, Mohib Obaidi, Sanaullah Siyam, Qudrat Sultani and Bismillah Watandost, were arrested by the NDS on July 26 after they returned from the Spin Boldak district in Kandahar.

The NDS said in a statement that the aim of the journalists was “to ignore the inhuman acts of this terrorist group in some provinces of the country, especially Spin Boldak region so as to direct the public opinion in favour of the Taliban.”

The ANI reported the arrested journalists had interviewed the Taliban terrorists and the ISI officials.

The Taliban captured Spin Boldak, an important route between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and there was heavy violence in the area.

The Taliban captured and killed an Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui brutally when he was in Afghanistan to report the ongoing conflict.

Recently, the top leadership of the terrorist organisation Taliban visited China and met the External Affairs Minister Wang Yi.
