Prime Minister Narendra Modi had debuted on microblogging social media platform Twitter in 2009 and had one lakh followers.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the most followed active politician on social media platform Twitter when his count of followers crossed 70 million on Wednesday (July 28).

 

Prime Minister Modi had debuted on Twitter in 2009 when he was the chief minister of Gujarat. After about a year, he had one lakh followers on Twitter.

 

He had been a tech-savvy politician and has been using technology to bridge the gap between the administration and the people.

 

As chief minister of Gujarat, he pioneered the use of 3D hologram technology in political campaigning.

 

In July last year, the Prime Minister’s Twitter followers count had crossed 60 million.

 

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, has 30.9 million followers on Twitter, whereas President of France Emmanuel Macron has 7.1 million Twitter followers.

 

Barack Obama, former President of the United States, has 130 million followers on Twitter.

 

Among the Indian politicians, senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has 26.3 million, whereas Congress leader and Nehru family scion Rahul Gandhi has 19.4 million followers.
