Union Home Minister Amit Shah to meet North Eastern Chief Ministers on July 24: Internal Security and Border Disputes to be discussed

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his desire to resolve the boundary disputes in the Northeast before the nation celebrates the 75th Independence Day.

 

 

 

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a meeting with chief ministers of 7 states of the North East on Saturday, July 24. The Chief Secretaries and Director-General of Police (DGP) of all the Northeastern states will present in the meeting to be held in Meghalaya capital Shillong. Home Minister Shah will access the law and order situations of the North-East states. He will also review the COVID-19 situation of the North-Eastern states.

 

Shah will arrive in Shillong on a two-day visit on Saturday,24th July. The high-level meeting will be held in North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC). He will also review the functioning of the NESAC during his visit.

 

Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh and DONER Minister G. Kishan Reddy will accompany the Home Minister during his visit. The North Eastern Space Application Center is a joint venture between the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Department of Space Science, which helps the region by providing advanced space technology. Being the chairperson of the NEC, Home Minister Amit Shah is also the president of the NESAC.

 

Assam CMO office source told “Organiser” that, long-pending boundary dispute issue of the North-Eastern states will be a vital point of discussion in the meeting with the Union Home Minister. Shah expressed his desire to resolve the boundary disputes in the Northeast before the nation celebrates the 75th Independence Day.

 

Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will arrive in Shillong on Friday evening. He will discuss the ongoing border disputes with his Meghalaya and Mizoram counterparts Conrad Sangma and Lal Thanhawla.

 

Chief Secretaries and DGP of the states will also be present in the meeting to be held on Friday evening.

 

The Home Minister will also inaugurate ab cryogenic oxygen plant in Shillong and visit the Assam Rifles headquarter. On Sunday 25 July, Amit Shah will arrive in Guwahati. He will inaugurate a high technology Linac radiotherapy machine in Guwahati Medical College Hospital. The Union home minister might pay a visit to Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on his way back to Delhi on Sunday evening.
