The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown makers of an app named 'Sulli Deals' on the open-source platform GitHub.
'Sulli' is a derogatory word for Muslim women.
The app creators used photos of Muslim women inappropriately on the ‘Sulli Deals’ app and encourage people to participate in their "auction".
The FIR has been registered by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
"Acting on a complaint received on National Cybercrime Reporting Portal regarding Sulli Deals Mobile Application, an FIR under section 354-A (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered by the Cyber Crime Unit and investigation has started," a senior Delhi Police told media.
Delhi women commission had sent a notice to Delhi police about the Sulli Deals app.
