Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister said he would focus on the development of the Indigenous Muslim population.
The indigenous Muslim population is an integral part of the Assamese society and, their development should speed up so that the community becomes a significant contributor to the growth narrative of the State to keep its cultural identity intact, said State chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
On Sunday, at an Assam administrative staff college, Chief Minister had a meeting with intellectuals and leading citizens from the indigenous Muslim minority community of Assam. Sarma said that the BJP-led government in Dispur would organize eight sub-groups with community members to examine problems including health, education, skill development, women empowerment, cultural identity preservation, and many more.
He also added that there would be a chairperson from the community and a member secretary from the government in each sub-group that will come up with recommendations on their assigned matters after detailed discussions within three months. Further, based on their recommendations, the government will prepare a roadmap for the empowerment of the community, which will be implemented over five years.
