Amid the growing concern over the efficacy of the Chinese vaccines, Indonesia is witnessing cases amongst health care professionals who were vaccinated using the Chinese vaccine, Sinovac.

Last week, Costa Rica declined a shipment of Sinovac for the fear it won’t be effective against the virus. It was decided after examining the data.

These are just the latest cases of growing concern over the Chinese vaccine.

Earlier, UAE and Bahrain employed Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines for people who had received Chinese vaccines. It was found that Chinese vaccines were not effective enough.

China had declared that Sinovac efficacy was 51%, just above the 50% threshold required to get the emergency use authorization from the WHO.

In April this year, the head of the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention George Gao acknowledged the concern over the efficacy of the Chinese vaccines. In no time, Gao’s comments were censored in China.

Gao later came with an explanation that the comments were misinterpreted.

Chinese authorities never reacted to the public’s concern over the vaccine’s efficacy. They dismiss it as an attempt to denigrate China.
