As the Wuhan virus was gripping the entire world like a puppeteer with invisible hands, President Xi Jingping was denying China’s role in the origin of the virus. China had the audacity to unleash its wolf-warrior style diplomacy. Rather than being punished for its dubious role, it got unexpected support from the WHO

While some nations have a benign outlook towards the world and despite its own difficulties express their profound sense of humanity, others such as the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in their insatiable quest for being acknowledged as a global superpower mock the very existence of ethos and strike at the basis of all rationale. While India has always been considered as a spiritual leader and a growing power it has earned this rightful position not at the cost of human lives, but in its unshakable faith in the goodness of the human mind, the PRC on the other hand did not think twice in turning the planet into a vast sepulchre to quench its lust for supremacy.
The pandemic unleashed by the Wuhan virus since March 2020 has not only claimed lives, but turned the planet into a wasteland with economies struggling to gather speed, lives in a disarray and the people in general unable to break free of the immense psychological trauma and gather back their lives. All the while, Beijing under the leadership of President Xi Jingping and his party apparatus has repeatedly denied its role in the origin of the virus, the havoc unleashed instead taking on a wolf-warrior style diplomacy to up the ante by its well-known aggressive and nonchalant demeanour. While critics dismiss the PRC’s complacency as a figment of imagination, repeated revelations from credible sources say otherwise and hence it would be necessary to delve into them lest they are forgotten.
Initial Days
Back on November 17th 2019, there were reports that a certain patient (named as patient Zero) exhibited medical conditions which by now are well known to be the symptoms of the Wuhan virus. In addition others too exhibited such symptoms and they were treated in a military hospital and the case was hushed up. Following that in December 2019 more such cases cropped up but the authorities in Wuhan in collusion with Beijing again hushed up the matter and derided anyone to speak about it. Whereas the standard established protocol demands that nations that face a sudden outbreak of such diseases should notify the World Health Organisation, the PRC must be the only state that has not only shown complete disregard for such regulations but has also conveniently silenced those who wish to speak on the behalf of humanity.
Beijing silenced Dr. Li Wenliang and Dr. Al Fen who tried to warn their colleagues and authorities on a closed WeChat group about the predicament only to be silenced and rebuked. It took great pains to arrest and intern other activities and reporters such as Chen Quishi, Zhang Zhan, Fang Bin and many others lest they speak out. The authorities in Beijing also refused to place an international travel ban and spoke out against alleged racism when former President Donald Trump of the United States openly called it the China Virus. Like Trump, others too joined in the fray and demanded a thorough investigation into the PRC’s complacency. In return the PRC turned to the WHO. It sought its aid in sanitising the rattled image of the PRC.
On the 14th of January the WHO tweeted that the Chinese authorities after their preliminary investigations have found no evidence of human to human contact, it further clarified that Beijing has called for calm and reassured the international community of no imminent danger. Furthermore, Dr. Tedros the Director of the WHO even travelled to the PRC on the 2th of January to congratulate President XI on his remarkable handling of the situation. It should also be remembered that as Dr. Tedros was reimagining Beijing, most of the states had by then already experienced their first few cases. It would only be on March 11, 2020, that the WHO finally woke up from its PRC sponsored slumber and feebly declared a pandemic. However, by then the damage had already been done and the PRC was let off scot-free without having to pay for its crimes against humanity. This should however come as a no shocker as even previously in 2002, Beijing downplayed the SARS epidemic that almost brought it to its knees and followed a similar pattern of misinformation, dissuasion and hunting for those who dared to question.

Newer Revelations
While Sinophiles and those on the payroll of the Communist Party of China were quick to dismiss all concepts of the PRC’s culpability by either painting it as unscientific and racist, there were a few including dissidents who thought otherwise. No one may forget that the Lancet had defended the concept that the virus had natural origins, and the barrage of questions that former President Trump had to face. The social media and every space of information were rife with the innocence of the PRC and its media blitz went on to blame the United States, the Wet Market at Wuhan and even India on the origins of the virus. Even now as the tables have been turned, the PRC stooped too low to compare India’s funeral pyres with their rocket launch which again turned out to be an embarrassing failure. Such infantile actions couple with its ever increasing belligerence towards its neighbours exhibit the chinks in the bamboo curtain.
To start with, Australia under the Scott Morrison administration made the initial calls for an independent and verifiable investigation into the PRC’s role. Even before that Taiwan under Tsai Wen reportedly requested the WHO to listen to their queries but were turned down under the pressure from Beijing. Very soon other states too joined the clamour, with Brazilian President Bolsonaro calling it a possible bioweapon.
Shi Zhengli
It would be a horrendous statement to falsify any theory without even a thorough investigation. The guided tour that was given to the WHO by the Chinese authorities in its so-called investigation from 14th January to 10th February 2021 was not only fudgy but eclipsed a growing demand for further investigation into the origins. While member nations were not fully satisfied with the report they were indeed agreeable to further investigation. Enter Prof. Nikolai Petrovsky, Prof. Guiseppe Tritto and Dr. Li Meng Yang, the trio which clamoured for further investigation regarding the origins and suddenly fresh fuel was injected into such demands. Furthermore on being questioned by Senator Rand Paul, Dr. Fauci was caught in a tough spot which later on led to his admission that the virus may have been a lab leak from Wuhan. Being trapped, Fauci also had to face flak for being associated with Peter Daszak the head of the Eco Health Alliance over allegations of funding the Wuhan lab.
Clean Chit to China
Ironically Peter Daszak was also a part of the WHO mission to the PRC which gave it a clean chit. While there are reports that back in 2012 certain Chinese miners (in the Yunan Province) were treated for symptoms of the now dreaded Wuhan virus, the authorities collected virus samples for further investigation and Sharri Markson, Australian Author’s report that the PRC was considering weaponising the SARS virus in 2015 strikes a chord regarding the PRC’s bioweapon programme. Furthermore, studies by two other scientists Prof. Angus Dalgleish and Dr. Birger Sorensen laid out some startling claims that the Chinese had bioengineered the virus to make it more potent while simultaneously wiping out any evidence attached to it. While British and American intelligence reports suggest that the PRC could be culpable, the renewed attention also arrives in the backdrop of the first human to human transmission in the PRC of the H10N3 Bird Flu virus. The renewed efforts to question the PRC also gained steam with Dr. Tedros agreeing that the origin of the virus needed further scrutiny before a conclusion could be arrived at, and added to that the dark role of Shi Zhengli (also known as the Batwoman) who was researching in Bat Coronaviruses and her efforts to obfuscate data including the genomic sequence raises obvious questions. A scientific paper from IIT-Delhi in early January 2020 that claimed that the spike protein in the Wuhan virus were deliberately and artificially inserted and were certainly not naturally occurring were dismissed without much ado by Dr. Fauci.
Speaking on the veracity of a bio-engineered pathogen, two Indian scientists Dr. Bahulikar and Dr. Rahalkar explained the possibility of it being a lab-leaked and artificially tweaked pathogen resembling the structure that was ready to infect humans. Furthermore, the unavailability of an intermediate species for a transmission is a glaring lacunae that raises doubts on the natural occurrence of the virus. In this scenario the role of the DRASTIC (Decentralised Radical Autonomous Search Team Investigating COVID-19) used information available from open sourced channels to probe the origins of the virus and are close to the conclusion that indeed the Wuhan virus was bioengineered at the behest of Shi Zhengli and in collusion with funding from Dr. Fauci and his associate Peter Daszak. The team also exposed as to how the RaTG13 virus that infected the miners in Yunan bore striking similarity to the Wuhan virus, thus cementing the credibility that nefarious experiments were indeed carried out in the name of scientific research.
Calls for a proper and impartial investigation hold ground precisely given the poor track record of the PRC in preventing viral outbreaks and their policy of suppressing the truth. The current pandemic has exposed the inefficient mechanisms to hold the PRC accountable which also jeopardises the future of the world. Unless a proper investigation is done and it is held accountable, the entire world will be at the mercy of Beijing in the face of its relentless experiments with viruses. On the brighter side, months of obfuscation have finally led to questions and demands from a scurried PRC. One will have to contemplate that the PRC’s insatiable hunger for power and supremacy comes at the cost of human lives which should not be cast away to please the communist state and face yet another catastrophe of such gargantuan proportions.
