Guwahati: Assam offers free vaccinations to everybody above 18 years of age as it gets necessary doses from the Centre from Monday onwards, where on the first day, over three lakh persons got vaccinated against the novel coronavirus infection-related complications.

State chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the preparedness made by district administrations for the enhanced vaccination campaign. He took the stock of the preparedness through video conference with the district civil and police administrations along with health services and other responsible officials.

The BJP led government activated over two thousand vaccination centers in the State, where the vaccination drive in urban areas will start at 8 am and continue till 8 pm with a one-hour lunch break. In rural areas, the vaccination process continues from 8 am to 1 pm.

Earlier, Sarma on Sunday reviewed the corona vaccination program along with flood preparedness in eastern Assam.

Along with the district administrations, he directed the top health officials to monitor the ongoing works carried out for setting up 30 PICU beds at Assam medical college hospital in Dibrugarh.

After reviewing flood properness, Sarma directed the water resources department to speed up the flood protection activities, including construction and the repair of embankments. Under the new financial power assigned to the district authorities, he insisted on actions to provide financial assistance to flood-affected families and to rebuild damaged residences, schools, and other government buildings.
