Multi-storey residential building collapses in Malad West of Mumbai

A four-story residential building and two more buildings opposite to it collapsed amid heavy rain in the New Collector Compound of Malad West suburb of Mumbai on the night of 9 June. As per reported by ANI, out of the 18 people rescued, 11 are dead. Dilip Sawant, Additional CP of Mumbai has stated that Police will carry out a proper investigation and take further action.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives and Rs. 50,000 to those who were injured.

 

Maharashtra cabinet minister Aslam Shaikh too has announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakhs to the family of deceased.
