Congress party’s prominent leader from Uttar Pradesh and once a close aid of Rahul Gandhi, Jitin Prasada has formally joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 9th June 2021. Prasad’s joining BJP has not gone well with Congress, who has started series of attack on the newly joined BJP politician. The national spokesperson of Congress, Supriya Shrinate through multiple tweets launched series of attack on Prasad. Shrinate alleged that Prasad has joined the forces who have sabotaged democratic institutions of the nation since last seven years.

Uttar Pradesh Congress politicians were not far behind and invoked the caste card to target Prasad’s joining BJP by tweeting: “All the candidates appointed in the general category in Banda University come from the same caste as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. I hope Jitin ji will write a letter demanding equal rights for own his caste on the very first day of his appointment in BJP”. Prasad comes from the Brahmin community of Uttar Pradesh while Yogi Adityanath before taking Sanyas belonged to the Thakur caste.
