The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has concluded in a paper in May last year that there was a strong possibility of SARS-COV-2 virus, which causes Covid-19, leaking from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
The paper was presented to the state department in October last year.
The ‘Z-Division’, which is the intelligence arm of the laboratory, had concluded that based on the genomic analysis of the virus there was a strong possibility that virus had leaked from the Wuhan lab.
More and more evidence is emerging supporting the hypothesis of the lab leak.
The Wall Street Journal reported this Monday.
The Chinese authorities have been denying any lab leak but have consistently stonewalled any access to the data to investigate the origin of the pandemic.
The US President Joe Biden ordered last month to investigate the various hypotheses about the origin of the virus and present the findings to him in 90 days.
Former President Donald Trump has maintained that the SARS-COV-2 virus leaked from the Wuhan lab.
