When the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to start the world’s largest vaccination drive against Covid-19 in January this year, Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had mocked vaccine as “BJP’s vaccine” and had said since he didn’t trust the vaccine, he won’t take it.
On Monday, his father, Samajwadi Party founder and former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav got himself vaccinated in Lucknow.
Recently, again Akhilesh has fueled vaccine hesitancy by questioning the efficiency of the vaccines administered in the country.
Serum Institute manufactured Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin are being administered in the country.
On Monday, the country crossed the milestone of administering more than 23 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccines.
