Andhra Govt Allows Use of Herbal Medicine Prepared by Ayurveda Practitioner Borige Anandaiah in Covid-19 Patients

The herbal medicine has been prepared by an Ayurvedic practitioner Borige Anandaiah. The eye drop, which Anandaiah claims will boost Oxygen level, is still being tested.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday allowed the use of herbal medicine prepared by Ayurveda practitioner Borige Anandaiah for Covid-19 patients.

Anandaiah practises Ayurveda in Krishnapatnam area in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh government took the decision after getting the inputs from the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS).

The eye drop version of the medicine, which Anandaiah claims boosts the Oxygen level in Covid-19 patients, is still under study.

The government has advised that people taking the herbal medicine should also continue with their regular medicine.
The AYUSH Ministry has also been studying the medicine prepared by Anandaiah.

After a request from Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, ICMR is to visit the village in Nellore district to collect the sample of the herbal medicine.

Vice-President Naidu is from Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.
