Alleged fact-checker Alt News, which has a history of twisting facts, came with all its might to claim the Congress’ ToolKit expose is fake.

One of the points raised in the Congress’ ToolKit was not to respond to emergency requests if the Twitter handle of the Indian Youth Congress was not tagged.

To prove that the document circulated was fake, Alt News shared the screenshot of one Sakshi who had asked for help.
Alt News said Sakshi got help although she hadn’t tagged IYC.

Later, it was revealed that Sakshi had indeed tagged IYC.

The Alt News quickly replaced Sakshi’s screenshot with journalist Aditya Raj Kaul’s screenshot for help.

This lie of Alt News was busted quickly as Kaul’s SOS tweet was put out after the Congress’ ToolKit was exposed.
The desperate attempt of the Alt News to prove that Congress did not circulate any such document raised many eyebrows.

Former Congress MP Rajeev Gowda, who also heads the Congress’ Research Department, accepted that Congress had indeed prepared such a ToolKit about the Central Vista Project.

It was later revealed that one Soumya Varma, who works with Gowda, was the author of the exposed ToolKits.
Through the exposure of the ToolKit, it was revealed that Congress was creating panic through hoarding of hospital beds and essential medicines.

And it was allegedly releasing beds and medicines only to create a good image of the Indian Youth Congress.

On many occasions in the past too, Alt News had twisted facts or showed it selectively to peddle a particular narrative.

Its founders have been caught in the past spreading fake news through social media.
