The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has hit us hard and there is sorrow around us but we can not give up, said Rashtriya Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat.

There are very tough times and our value will be tested but we have to be confident that we will win, he added.

Sarsanghchalak ji was speaking on the final day of “Hum Jitenge-Positivity Unlimited” lecture series organised by Covid Response Team, a civil society initiative to strengthen the fight against Covid-19.

Dr. Bhagwat ji said people who have lost their loved ones at this time, their sorrow is unimaginable but the people who are left behind have to fight.

He said, “Success is not final and failure is not fatal. The courage to continue is the only thing that matters.” The shortcomings of the society will come to the fore but our strength have come to fore in greater measure. He added the need of the hour was for the society to come together and work unitedly.

Dr. Bhagwat ji said the doctors had warned us about the second wave but we got little complacent and now there is talk of a third wave.

He emphasised on the need to ignite the spirit of sewa. He recalled how RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar ji had lost both his parents in the Nagpur plague at an early stage of his life. But there was no bitterness in him. He was more devoted to the service of humanity.

Talking about the economic loss because of the pandemic, Sarsanghchalak ji said this pandemic would aggravate the financial conditions of many, especially those who are daily wagers. We must think about them, he added.

Schools are shut for more than a year now and academic activities are suffering. Sarsanghchalak ji said till the conditions are conducive, we should focus on informal education of children. He also asked people not to sit idle.

Dr. Bhagwat ji also recalled the words in British Prime Minister Churchill’s office “Please understand there is no pessimism in this office. We are not interested in the possibility of defeat. They do not exist.” He said Churchill overcame challenging problems through such positive spirit.
